The real road of compassion, that is, giving, helping, assistance and community service, is a road that can be set and declared as your life’s purpose

Byron Pulsifer

In december 2018 when I first posted and joined PROJECT WHY circle via Damyanti, I didnt knew it will give me such a platform to help virtually too. It’s been years I left Delhi and feel bad that had I been there I would have certainly went there personally. Will surely try when I visit to go and meet the team. It was Anuradha Bakshi is supporting slum children’s education specially “#GirlsEducation, against all odd and her work is commendable. Anouradha came up with a new education model that not only minimized school dropouts, but also helped them climb up the merit list

ProjectWhy Okhla education centre began its activities in 2004 to address the problems of children who were targeted by drug and other mafias. With no schooling in there area, and not aware of importance of schooling it was not a smooth journey.

The only option to start school was a space near a garbage dump. It was ‘reclaimed’ and classes began under a plastic sheet held by bamboo poles. The centre is the result of hard work from its staff and founders, who have faced everything from littering to assault from criminal elements in order to keep it running for all these years.

To spread the word about this wonderful centre who need help so that they can continue working for the underprivileged and save many more lives you may either donate to the centre or spread the word through social media, either ways your contribution will be valuable for the teachers: Mithu, Sophiya Tirkey, Pushpa Kumar, Naresh Bharadwaj and their school!

WHO IS MITHU

Since 2005, Project WHY runs a computer education programme.  Mithu started as a student, worked his way up to being a teacher’s aide, and then took over as the computer teacher.

Mithu Mandal, Computer teacher at Project why, Delhi lost his legs to polio at the age of 3. At Project Why, he not only learned about computers but became good enough to teach children how to use them.

The Project Why Okhla centre where Mithu teaches, supports the education of 350 children, quite a few of whom also learn computers from Mithu. Without this centre, Mithu would not have a job. It is therefore important that we do not allow this centre to shut down because that will impact upon the lives of these children. Project WHY reaches out to 1200 children and 160 women. so, lets help spread the word.

WHO IS NARESH

Help Naresh Bhardwaj, a Teacher who has turned School dropouts in the Okhla and Giri Nagar slums to toppers. Naresh Bhardwaj, who has worked as a security guard and a shoe salesman, has taught hundreds of students at Project WHY for the past 18 years.
